Joel M. Reed - Director - BioMany consider Joel M. Reed one of the world's finest directors. He wrote Bloodsucking Freaks at the request of a group of NYC ballet aficionados. (The money was too much to resist and he's been sorry ever since.) Reed experienced initial pride when the film reached cult status, but his enthusiasm was tempered when he discovered many of his fans took the film too seriously.Mr Reed served in the korean war as a rifleman. After attending the american academy of dramatic arts, he drifted into publicity for MGM's east coast office. His debut film, "Career Bed", impressed producer Sidney Glazier (The Producers), who offered Reed a Big Budget Feature, but court action soon shit down Glazier's company, and Reed instead returned to the orient to make "G.I. Executioner"."Blood Bath" was produced through his popularity in Asia, and as the film was shot he acquired more fans, including the young Oliver Stone.
