At first, their stay seems destined to be merely a spooky encounter with inexplicable phenomena. But Hill House is gathering its powers—and soon it will choose one of them to make its own. (Amazon)

It originated with Amblin TV’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, fans of the book, who tracked its rights to Paramount Television. Flanagan was tapped to write, direct and executive produce and his producing partner, Trevor Macy, to executive produce a potential TV series adaptation. The pitch was sold to Netflix for development, which led to the straight-to-series order. Frank and Falvey also executive produce.

Der Film von Robert Wise ist ja brilliant, das Remake von Jan de Bont ein gigantomanischer CGI-Quark, der zwar visuell durchaus seine Momente, die Mechanismen der Vorlage aber nicht im geringsten verstanden hat. Dann bin ich mal gespannt, was man jetzt draus macht...

"fans of the book" klingt ja schon mal ganz gut.
Ich kann mir aber nicht vorstellen, dass man heute mit modernem Look, so eine Atmo erzeugen kann, wie die des Originals.

Schau mer mal. Wenns was wird freu ich mich, vorerst bleibe ich mal skeptisch ob nicht auch hier alles mit CGI versaut wird

Mike Flanagan (Before I Wake, Oculus) und Netflix haben bei der Umsetzung von Stephen Kings Gerald’s Game so gut harmoniert, dass der Genrefilmer jetzt gleich ein zweites Mal für den Streaming-Giganten Regie führen und die Adaption einer Kultvorlage in Angriff nehmen darf. Netflix hat bei ihm eine 10-teilige Serie zu Shirley Jacksons Buchklassiker The Haunting of Hill House bestellt, welche in der Vergangenheit schon zwei Mal für die große Leinwand adaptiert wurde, zuletzt 1999. Jetzt ist es unter anderem an Michiel Huisman, einen Schritt in das verfluchte Gemäuer zu setzen. Wie bekannt wurde, handelt es sich bei dem Game of Thrones-Darsteller nämlich um den ersten bestätigten Namen für die kommende Verfilmung. Er spielt Steven Crane, den ältesten Sohn der Crane-Familie und Autor übernatürlicher Romane. Mit Steven Spielberg konnte zudem einer der ganz Großen an Bord geholt werden. Der legendäre Regisseur von Filmen wie E.T. und Jurassic Park wird das Projekt als Produzent überwachen. Die Serie wird momentan für 2018 vorbereitet.
