Oh, noch kein Thread?

Warner baut ja sein eigenes Monsterverse aus. Kong ist noch ganz frisch, Godzilla 2 kommt 2019, und für 2020 ist dann das Crossover angesetzt.

Und der Regisseur scheint nun festzustehen: Adam Wingard.

Well. That career escalated quickly. Once the darling of the indie horror scene with small films like A Horrible Way To Die and You're Next Adam Wingard has locked in a deal to direct Godzilla vs. Kong for Legendary and Warner Bros. To date the biggest thing he has directed is his recent adaptation of the Japanese franchise Death Note for Netflix due in August.
 
This upcoming chapter was written by committee, lead by Pirates of the Caribbean scribe Terry Rossio. He was joined back in March for a writing pow-wow by Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne (Star Trek Beyond), Fresh faces and female voices Lindsey Beer and Cat Vasko, Maze Runner movies writer T.S. Nowlin (also Pacific Rim: Uprising), Jack Paglen (Transcendence and Alien: Covenant), and Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski. Really the only name here that has my interest is Straczynskis.
 
We are a long ways away from the planned released in May of 2020. Anything can happen between now and then but seeing as a lot of the ScreenAnarchy family are fans of Wingard and his work we are very excited for him and this opportunity. Well earned.

Zumindest macht man sich Gedanken wegen des Größenunterschiedes...

Monster-Gigant King Kong muss sich bald dem ultimativen Schlagabtausch gegen Godzilla stellen. Eine Sache bereitet Fans des kultigen Gorillas aber schon jetzt Sorgen: Rein von der Größe kann es Kong nämlich unmöglich mit Godzilla aufnehmen. Die Filmikone bekam für Kong: Skull Island zwar eigens ein Update verpasst, doch auch dieses dürfte wohl kaum ausreichen, um dem fast 70 Meter größeren Godzilla Paroli zu bieten. Dessen ist sich auch Blair Witch-Regisseur Adam Wingard (V/H/S, You’re Next) bewusst: „Wir befinden uns zwar erst in der Anfangsphase, aber es ist bereits ein großer Spaß. Endlich hatte ich einen guten Grund, mir alle 30 Filme mit Godzilla anzusehen. 2020 wollen wir die Reihe dann auf eine ganz neue Stufe heben.“ Wäre da nicht das Problem mit der Größe: „Sie haben uns in Kong die Hand gereicht, indem erklärt wurde, dass sich Kong noch im Wachstum befindet. Dennoch ist das natürlich eine besondere Herausforderung, der wir uns stellen müssen.“ Demnächst bekommen wir Godzilla dann zunächst in Godzilla: King of the Monsters zu Gesicht, der 2019 mit Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Kyle Chandler (Bloodline) und Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel) in den Kinos anläuft, inszeniert von Michael Doughetry (Krampus).

Ansonsten wäre es etwas... unfair.
