The Official Title Of The NEW MUTANTS Movie And Its Production Start Date May Have Been Revealed
Director Josh Boone seemed to confirm that he was set to begin shooting his New Mutants movie in Montreal around April, but a new report from Le Journal de Montreal (via Omega Underground) suggests that it'll commence production the slightly later in May, and also lists the film's title as "X-Men: The New Mutants."
It remains to be seen if this turns out to be official, but it wouldn't be too surprising if the studio wanted to make sure audiences knew the movie was a part of the X-franchise. It could also mean that this will actually be more of a direct continuation than a spin-off, opening up the possibility of some characters from Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse returning. That's just speculation for now of course.
In a separate interview with Creative Screenwriting, Boone discusses which New Mutants comics were the inspiration for the script he and co-writer/childhood friend Knate Gwaltney turned in, and reveals that they originally pitched a trilogy to Simon Kinberg.
"We had loved Bill Sienkiewicz’s run with Chris Claremont that had Demon Bear. It was really dark, interesting, and different from the typical X-Men stories that we had read. After I made The Fault in Our Stars, we made Fox a comic book. It walked them through a trilogy of New Mutant films that would build on each other. We used this program called Comic Life, and took all the images we had loved from the series and strung them together to show them the movie we wanted to do. We brought it to Simon and he really liked it.
We’ve been going for the past year and a half to get it ready, and I’m about to go location scout and we have a release date now."
Maisie Williams und Anna Taylor-Joy für "New Mutants" bestätigt
Allmählich formt sich das junge Mutanten-Team des anstehenden "New Mutants"-Films.
So berichtet The Hollywood Reporter aktuell, dass Schauspielerinnen Maisie Williams ("Game of Thrones") und Anna Taylor-Joy ("The Witch") nach diversen Gerüchten nun tatsächlich im anstehenden "New Mutants" besetzt worden sind.
Dort soll Williams die Rolle von Wolfsbane und Anna Taylor-Joy die Rolle der Magik spielen.
Wolfsbane ist dabei eine Mutantin, die die Fähigkeit besitzt sich in eine wolfsähnliche Gestalt (ähnlich einem Werwolf) zu verwandeln, welche ihr animalische Kräfte verleiht. Magik besitzt derweil die Haupt-Fähigkeit sich zu teleportieren. Zusätzlich besitzt sie in den Comics jedoch auch diverse weitere Magie-ähnliche Kräfte.
Stattfindend in 20th Century Fox's "X-Men"-Filmuniversum, wird sich "New Mutants" auf ein junges Team von Mutanten konzentrieren, die sich im Training befinden (ähnlich "X-Men: Erste Entscheidung").
"New Mutants" erscheint am 13. April 2018 in den Kinos.

An den Sienkiwiecz Run kann ich mich erinnern, der war damals sehr inovativ. Sienkiewicz hatte kurz darauf dann Daredevil, Elektra und Stray Toasters auf dem Plan. War ne grosse Sache damals.
Danach hatte ich das Interesse an den New Mutants verloren.

Spätestens nach Logan hat man wohl langsam den Mut, mal etwas andere Wege zu beschreiten und mit der Tonart zu experimentieren.

More New Mutants movie plot details revealed, horror tone confirmed
With 20th Century Fox’s The New Mutants movie set to go before cameras in July, director Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) has spoken to Entertainment Weekly about the film, confirming the horror tone (which ComingSoon.net first reported back in November) and other details.
“We are making a full-fledged horror movie set within the X-Men universe,” Boone says. “There are no costumes. There are no supervillains. We’re trying to do something very, very different.”
A secret source close to the production also elaborated on the plot, which focuses on mutants during their teenage years, when their powers are new and they are the most dangerous to themselves and others.
Logline: “Held in a secret facility against their will, five new mutants have to battle the dangers of their powers, as well as the sins of their past. They aren’t out to save the world — they’re just trying to save themselves.”
This continues the trend begun on Deadpool and continued on Logan wherein the stakes are more personal and less global than a typical superhero blockbuster. Unlike those two films, however, The New Mutants is shooting for a PG-13 rating, with a script by Boone and his childhood friend, producer Knate Lee (Bad Grandpa).
Boone stated that he loves the fact that “Fox wants to make all these different X-Men spinoffs as drastically different as they can.” He adds: “You can’t have a bigger nerd or fan making this. It’s so important to me. I’m not the 12-year old who decided to write Stephen King a letter and loved Marvel Comics anymore, but I try to hold myself accountable to that kid. Because that kid is what keeps me from becoming a Hollywood whore. I look back and think: Would he think this would be cool? Would he proud of me? Did I fulfill the dream we had when we were kids? So yeah, you can definitely say I’m excited.”
The film is currently set to star Anya Taylor-Joy (Split, The Witch) as Magik and Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones, Doctor Who) as Wolfsbane, with Henry Zaga (13 Reasons Why) heavily rumored to play Sunspot, and Rosario Dawson (Marvel’s Daredevil) also rumored to join the cast. Nat Wolff was linked to the role of Cannonball but that casting has apparently fallen through, as has James McAvoy making an appearance as Charles Xavier.
The New Mutants adapts the monthly comic book series of the same name that launched in 1982. Created by Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod, The New Mutants follows on a group of teenage mutants as heroes in training in the Marvel Universe. The feature is expected to be a departure from the sci-fi-action spectacle of other X-Men films and is instead being described as a “Stephen King meets John Hughes”-style horror movie.
Last November, ComingSoon.net exclusively revealed a leaked concept animatic from the film, which features Wolfsbane, Magic and Cannonball facing Demon Bear. Check it out in the player below.

Krass. Die haben seit Logan wohl echt Spaß an Experimenten und gewagten Sachen gefunden. Find ich gut. Könnte ne Erfolgsformel sein im Comicverfilmungengsbrei.

Kenne die Figuren auch überhaupt nicht. Aber Cast und Trailer sind cool. Anscheinend wird jetzt die X-Men Franchise auch ausgebaut, denn auch von Dark Phoenix kam übers Wochenende der erste Trailer raus...

Der wirkt sehr sehr düster und sieht nicht nach Teenie Klamotte aus.

Nicht übel, mal sehen ob das CGI später im Film besser aussieht. Wirkt sich etwas angestaubt. Aber die Atmo ist durchaus nett.

Den Film kann man jetzt bei Sky streamen. Da es im weitesten Sinne etwas mit den X-Men zu tun hat, schau ich mir den mal an.

Viele Köche verderben den Brei.
Was auch immer das einmal werden sollte, der "fertige" Film ist nichts weiter, als ein schlechter Witz. Phasenweise stinklangweilig, lässt er seine talentierten DarstellerInnen wie eine Laientheatertruppe schlechte Dialoge aufsagen. Wie wichtig eine gute Schauspielregie ist, sieht man hier. Ich bin ja Fan von Anja Taylor-Joy, aber hier ging sie mir nach 10 Minuten schon derbe auf den Keks, alle anderen waren dagegen einfach egal.
Dazu noch farblose, oberflächliche Charaktere, teils miese Schnitte und Effekte, die nicht mal ansatzweise das Budget von 70 Millionen rechtfertigen. Das hätte auch eine Pilotfolge einer maximal mittelmäßigen Teenie-Serie sein können. Ein paar kurze nette Momente hat der Film, aber die sind sehr überschaubar. :3: - :4:

Bei Disney+ gibt es ihn natürlich auch, nicht nur bei Sky. Ich werde ihn als Marvel-Komplettist natürlich irgendwann schauen, aber eine hohe Priorität hat er nicht gerade.

Es kann schon sein, dass du da gnädiger bist, aber ich fand den einfach schlecht. Ein schlechtes Zeichen ist schon, wenn man sich bei gerade Mal 82 Minuten bis zum Abspannt komplett durchlangweilt. Da passt für mich nichts zusammen.

Ganz grob passt Teeny Horror, da er ein paar Nightmare on Elmstreet Elemente hat.
Guck Dir Dark Phoenix ruhig an, soo schlecht fand ich den nicht. War glaub ich eine :6.5: bei mir.
