Ein Film, der mehr als nur fasziniert.

Wir schreiben das Jahr 1988 in der amerikanischen Kleinstadt Middlesex: Der 16jährige Donnie Darko durchlebt eine schwierige Pubertät und hat mit den üblichen Problemen eines jeden Jugendlichen zu kämpfen. Doch er wird zusätzlich von seinen Eltern zu einer Psychiaterin geschickt. Als dann noch ein Flugzeugtriebwerk in sein Zimmer stürzt und sein neuer selbsterfundener Freund Frank, der ein Hasenkostüm an hat, ihn vor dem Ende der Welt warnt, gerät das Leben von Donnie völlig aus den Fugen ...

"Donnie Darko" ist ein wunderbarer Film der zwischen Drama, Komödie, Mystery, Fantasy und Grusel einordnen lässt. Selten hat ein Film so viele Genres so gut vereint.

Der Film fasziniert von Anfang bis an den Schluss. "Donnie Darko" erzählt die tragisch-komische und mysteriöse Geschichte eines Jugendlichen, wie man es zuvor noch nie gesehen hat. Die Story ist voller Wendungen und anfangs fast undurchschaubar. Man ist immer im Ungewissenen und jeder interpretiert den Film anders.

Der Film hat eine geniale Atmosphäre, die Charaktere könnten einem Lynch-Film entsprungen sein, die Musik schön atmosphärisch, die Schauspieler sind top und die Bilder sind wunderschön gefilmt. "Donnie Darko" ist ein wahres Filmkunstwerk, das zudem noch ein bisschen Gesellschaftskritik übt.

"Donnie Darko" ist ein geniales und abgefahrenes Mystery-Märchen für Erwachsene. Ein Meisterwerk. 10/10

Also, ich hab beide Fassungen gesehen und finde den Director's Cut klar die bessere Fassung (mehr Atmosphäre, mehr Tiefe, irgendwie runder). Doch Neulinge sollten zuerst die Kinofassung schauen und erst danach der DC. Denn die Kinofassung verrät nicht so viel wie der DC.

Arrow Video haut am 12.12.16 eine Super-Duper-Deluxe-Limited-Edition von Donnie Darko auf den Markt. Der Film erhält einen neuen Transfer, der auch bitter nötig ist. Endlich kann ich eine meiner schlechtesten BDs einmotten (denn ich hab bereits vorbestellt ).
