The Thing!John Carpenter's Meisterwerk wird heute 35! Am 25. Juni 1982 startete der Film in den Staaten. Am gleichen Tag wie Blade Runner, zwei Wochen nach E.T.. Bei den Kritikern und an den Kassen fiel er gnadenlos durch. Bei 15 Millionen Budget (ohne Marketingkosten etc ) spielte er nur 19,6 Millionen ein, war also faktisch ein Flop. Die Zuschauer wollten damals wohl lieberpositive Kontakte mit Aliens sehen...Erst Jahre später erkannten Kritiker seine Werte. Der Film war seiner Zeit tatsächlich voraus, und heute gilt er als einer von Carpenters besten Filmen, wird oft sogar als einer der besten SciFi-Filme aller Zeiten bezeichnet. Zu Recht.

...und zu Beginn gibt es tatsächlich eine Stimme aus dem Off, die die Figuren vorstellt. Sehr interessant.
