Der Inhalt des Romans:
Nina Drayton, Melanie Fuller und William Borden sind besondere Menschen. Sie können durch die Gedanken das Handeln anderer Menschen beeinflussen und sich gleichzeitig wie ein Vampir an deren Lebensenergie bereichern. Jetzt mach ich mich wohl an den Megaschinken CARRION COMFORT von Dan Simmons.

Der ist ein Knaller!

Ja Carrion Comfort, der wohl episte Horrorroman ever. Habe ihn schon zwei mal gelesen.
Irgendwann vergisst du das es Horror ist und nimmste es für bare Münze.
Ein echtes Meisterwerk.

Gefällt mir auch schon richtig gut nach den ersten 300 Seiten.

Die ca. 1000 Seiten (auf Englisch) von Dan Simmons' CARRION COMFORT durch. Puh, erstmal ausatmen. Wahnsinn, wer hätte bei Simmons etwas anderes erwartet? Würd ich in einem Atemzug mit dem brillanten SWAN SONG nennen, auch wenn es inhaltlich nichts miteinander zu tun hat. Aber diese Welt der machtgierigen Gedankenvampire, der Bestien in Menschengestalt, die Simmons da entwirft - vor allen Dingen im Rahmen des Nationalsozialismus - ist schlicht und ergreifend einzigartig und weltklasse! Die Greuel aus den Kriegszeiten, das FBI, der Mossad, schwarze Ghettogangs, polnische KZ-Überlebende, eine Showdown auf einer Insel, der an ein Actionfeuerwerk a la HARD TARGET oder SURVIVING THE GAME erinnert, dennoch weit darüber hinausgeht (Stichwort: Schachspiel!). Unglaublich. Der Oberst und Harod sind schon ganz schöne Säue, aber Melanie Fuller toppt den Haufen ja fast. Hat mich bestens unterhalten.

So, jetzt brauch ich was leichtes - PARASIT von Laymon wird heut angefangen.

Das hört sich auch wieder sehr gut an.
Carrion Comfort kenne ich ja auch noch nicht.

Sein zweiter Roman (1990) und Gewinner des Bram Stoker Awards. Könnte dir gefallen (gibt es halt nur auf englisch).

Habt ihr bei booklooker und buch.de geschaut? Immer zuerst bei bookbutler schauen, da gibt es weltweite Preisvergleiche!

Ja, die englischen sind auch teuer. Aber nicht die UK-Ausgabe, die letzte von den dreien bei den Coverpix. Die gibts für Cent-Beträge. Zugegeben, das mit Abstand hässlichste Cover.

ENDLICH durch so dicke Wälzer sind für mich immer so ne Sache...

Da sagste was. Lese grade THE STAND, das sind selbst auf Englisch schon über 1200 Seiten, klein geschrieben. Da werd ich noch ne ganze Weile brauchen. Aber cool, dass dir das hier gefallen hat.
